Maurice de Mauriac x Giro d’Italia

The Giro d’Italia started on May 6 and till May 26, Maurice de Mauriac was racing with Team Corratec. The youngest team in the Giro is as old as our brand on average, 25 years. Swiss rider Jan Stöckli is a good friend of the Dreifuss family and already an ambassador for Maurice de Mauriac.

At the 106th edition of the Giro d’Italia, Maurice de Mauriac supported Team Corratec.

Maurice de Mauriac x Team Corratec

Jan Stöckli, a young Swiss professional cyclist on Team Corratec. The cyclist is supported by the family and is very attached to the brand’s timepieces. A Corratec rider can make a breakaway and pull on the leader’s jersey, the legendary Maglia Rosa, since pink is a color Maurice de Mauriac holds in high regard, as proven by their L3 Cherry Blossom and Rallymaster timepieces, with, of course, a typical Maurice de Mauriac feature: the hat band was made from the original Racing Nato strap.

Jan Stöckli wore the L2 GMT White. A watch for Grand Tours, powered by a reliable Swiss automatic movement and equipped with a sporty white rubber strap, always committed to their philosophy, which could also be Maurice de Mauriac’s philosophy: young, wild and free.

On May 28th, after the finish line in Rome, the team thanked sponsors who make the Corratec team’s effort possible with an exclusive Maurice de Mauriac timepiece — the Chrono Modern Diver Skeleton. The watch that team manager Valerio Conti already wore at the presentation.

Ride along, climb along, sprint along.

Space Gallery St Barth x Rémy de Haenen

Space Gallery St Barth is delighted to announce an exhibition of paintings by artist Rémy de Haenen.

Rémy de Haenen is a french artist, born in Martinique, which he called home along with St Barth until he was 17 years old. Descendant of a family that arrived in the Islands centuries ago, his childhood was deeply marked and influenced by the cultural diversity, freedom, colors, sea, sky and creatures of the Islands.

Now, Rémy presents “Summer”, at their New York City Gallery from 18 May till 24 June 2023 where the artworks captures those long days at the beach or by the pool, basking in the sun and endless lazy afternoon picnics. Even a swim at golden hour.

The artist also invites the public to the Exhibition Vernissage where he will talk about his recent art, his style and his connection to St Barth. The Vernissage will take place on the first day of the exhibition on Thursday,18 May 2023.
*RSVP till 17 May since space is limited.

THE WORKS

Color is indeed central to this series. Beach scenes and island life are depicted saturated in
block color giving the pieces a Wesselman-esque identity or note of Hockney sometimes appear.
De Haenen uses the centrality of the female body and the advertising aesthetics of Pop Art. That way, the artist express the sensuality of these scenes as relaxed snapshots. They are a gesture of love for his homeland and a longing for the persistence of the Caribbean identity.

“In my works I stick to the idea that color and painting form a language that can speak to the mind, the body and to the hidden magical mysteries of Caribbean souls. Since color is fundamental and it is everywhere when you set a foot in the islands. It has magic (sometimes elusive) and provokes the eye and body as if it were a material substance.”, says Rémy.

Hoewever, the exhibition is also comprised of several sculptures. In his signature style painted on a series of acrylic plates that give the subject matter volume, shape and bring them to life. They are beautiful little gems that celebrate color and nature coming into bloom as summer arrives.
