Eberhard & Co. has launched in 1959 the SCAFOGRAF collection that has been one of La Maison de La Chaux-de-Fonds’ greatest successes.The color brown and the color black, during this time of year, refer us to what Halloween has tried to convey over the years. However, you don’t necessarily have to wear it only this season, since it’s perfect for any occasion. The celebratory edition has been named “MCMLIX”, which indicates in Roman numerals the year of birth of the collection.

The Windup Watch Fair was a whirlwind of incredible watches, but the star of the show, in our opinion, was the Minase Urushi Maki-e Hakose series.

Their collaboration with master artisan Hakose is a testament to their dedication to Japanese heritage. Each piece in this extraordinary collection showcases the ancient Japanese art and at WindUp we talked and shared about the brand’s philosophy, from the preservation of time-honored Japanese traditions in watchmaking to the forward-thinking approach that drives its commitment to excellence.

The team also shared insights behind the Minase brand to clients and press who stopped by the Minase booth: The Knockturnal, Fratello Watches, Time + Tide, High Snobiety, WatchPro, Teddy Baldassare, Popping Crowns, and many more, had the opportunity to explore and try on this Minase novelty.

THE COLLECTION AND THEIR DIALS

The Windows collection does not resemble any watch we are familiar with. Simply because this model was not inspired by watches; it was inspired by geometry. Minase wanted to create a watch
that would enhance this.

Minase Urushi Maki-e by Hakose serie is the latest novelty in the masterpiece collection. With 4 different dials: Four Seasons, Komon, Yoshino Sakura and Yama Sakura. Every masterpiece is based upon the Windows collection.

THE HISTORY ABOUT GRAND PRIX RACE

In 1939, Zurich prepared itself to hold a Grand Prix race, which could not take place because of the outbreak of World War II. But what if the Zurich Grand Prix were held today? In association with the Züri Ring Simulation Motodrom, Maurice de Mauriac imagined a dedicated chronograph while adding two new dial references to the emblematic Pit Stop collection.

It took more than 80 years until someone was crazy and determined enough to bring a Grand Prix to Zurich again. Maurice de Mauriac has always been attracted to craziness and, when it comes to motorsports, the match is perfect. That’s why the brand became the official timekeeper of the Zurich Grand Prix 2023 and created a cool timepiece embodying the spirit of racing while celebrating the city’s true colors.

THE MIND BEHIND THE ART

Tom Mächler, managing director of the Züri Ring Simulation Motodrom, is the mind behind the project. He brought other crazy people on board: the racing legend Hans Herrmann, the racing photographer Rainer W. Schlegelmilch and the Formula 1 enthusiastic media designer Stefano Luzzatto. They failed to make the Formula 1 bolides thunder through Zurich as they did in Monaco. But they created the perfect illusion of a Grand Prix in Zurich and Maurice de Mauriac joined them.

M-3 | A RARE WATCH

Prior to Minase’s second collaboration with Fratello in 2022, the M-3 model remained relatively unknown outside of Japan. However, the overwhelming positive feedback and appreciation received for the M-3 “Veri Peri” collaboration prompted Minase to offer once again this unique timepiece. To a broader global audience.

The M-3 timepiece features a tastefully designed tonneau-shaped case, evoking a sense of classic elegance reminiscent of the 1970s. While it draws inspiration from that era, the M-3 showcases a fine balance between honoring the past and embracing modern design aesthetics, avoiding an overly retro appearance.

The M-3 “Nori” boasts an exquisite hand-painted green dial adorned with subtle brushed patterns. This captivating dial design, previously featured on the Divido model, marks a first-time appearance on the M-3 timepiece.

The opening day of Paris Fashion Week 2023 was nothing short of spectacular. The iconic Eiffel Tower served as the backdrop for the runway.
