Singer Reimagined x Genus: The 8-Track Watch

For this year’s Only Watch charity auction, Singer Reimagined and Genus are rekindling the flame of the childlike sense of wonder that lies dormant in each of us, bringing back a flow of memories: the 8-Track Watch. This timepiece is a fusion of the mechanical-aesthetic, the horokinetic, the auto-emotional that brings back childhood memories and the passion for miniature versions of the cars for “when we grow up”.

8-TRACK WATCH: THE RACER

The 8-Track is a fusion of ideas, passions, mechanics and two watch brands: a watch with a Singer aesthetic in a case inspired by the iconic watches of the 60s and 70s, with a deep connection to the world of motorsports; the perfect setting for the exceptional mechanics of the display complication invented by Genus. The 8-Track Watch is a meeting of minds between two brands, both iconoclasts in their own fields, both with a taste for and a natural attitude towards pushing the envelope beyond limits and conventions.

THE ENGINE BETWEEN TWO BRANDS

What could be more logical for a car restorer than to work with an engine builder?
At the center of the watch, no dial but a unique automotive display. In the background, the GxS-23-Ru caliber, whose components are designed and hand-worked by the Master Watchmaker. The quiet power of the GxS-23-Ru caliber. Faithful to the foundations of Genus’ watchmaking approach, it takes on a new form, as a micro-sculpted racer that zips around its track: yet another testament to the flexibility and versatility of this singular watchmaking brand.

The Beauty of Darkness x Minase Watches

Minase Watches launches a new limited series of 25 pieces: Horizon GEN DLC.

In Japanese, GEN is spelled with the kanji character “玄”, which offers several meanings such as depth, darkness, mystery or the color black. With this, these terms perfectly describe the new limited series, a Horizon clad in deep, glossy black DLC (Diamond like Carbon), alternating between brushed and polished areas.

MINASE WATCHES: THE DLC COATING (DIAMOND LIKE CARBON)

Minase has chosen the Horizon model as the ideal expression of this DLC finish. Inspired by the watch’s similarity to the horizon line stretching over the sea and designed with pure, simple lines.

The case, crown, indexes and buckle are DLC-coated. Secondly, this treatment enhances the hardness of 316L steel by depositing fine layers on its various components. DLC treatment offers a great resistance to scratches. It has a Swiss ETA 2892-2 movement.

THE JAPANESE KNOW-HOW

Still, the design of its sides is an influence by a Japanese sword, the Horizon watch combines the calm of the ocean with the strength of the Katana (the Samurai’s sword). Also, the case and bracelet appear on a single plane. The anti-reflective sapphire crystal perfectly follow the curve of the watch.

Therefore, the model will be available for viewing for the first time at the District Time Exhibition in Washington (March 2-3, 2024).
