As of today, the luxury pre-owned market has its own show with ReLuxury. The first event dedicated to the re-commerce of luxury and collectible pieces, ended on a high note: with over 4’000 visitors over its four-day exhibition.

RELUXURY

Held from 4 to 7 November 2022 at the Hotel President in Geneva; ReLuxury welcomed visitors from all generations. Connoisseurs, jewellery enthusiasts, watch collectors and fashion-lovers alike browsed the four thematic areas of the show: the Showroom, the Clinic, the Lab and the Talks.

ReLuxury hosted the Opening Ceremony on November 4, with over 400 guests from the luxury industry. Among them, Tirath Kamdar, General Manager Luxury at eBay, Patrick Hoffmann, Executive Vice-President of WatchBox, Alexandre Mille, CEO of Richard Mille, Vincent Perriard Co-Founder at Origyn Foundation, formers Presidents of the Geneva State Council, Pierre Maudet and Claude Haegi, and the President of the Grand Council, Jean-Luc Forni, the 17 CEOs of the exhibiting brands, the representative of the 16 artisans, the 6 start-ups and many other key industry leaders.

FABIENNE LUPO

The success of this first edition was made possible by the vision of Fabienne Lupo, founder of ReLuxury. A vision of a show dedicated to the promotion of circular economy; where novice and expert consumers would gather in a safe environment; to buy certified and authenticated items from internationally recognized digital platforms and luxury brands. Fabienne recalls: “The objective was to create a show committed to the re-commerce of luxury and collectible pieces; and I feel this was accomplished with ReLuxury. It was also important to be able to talk about the pre-owned market not as taboo but address it as a timely topic and as a global social responsibility.”

THE SHOW

But more than just an exhibition show, ReLuxury offered a welcoming setting where visitors had the opportunity to meet artisans of various trades; who dedicate their craft to giving luxury items a second life; but also connect with local startups and their latest product collections and/or technological advances in the fields of recycling, upcycling and more. Not to mention, a moment to attend panels tackling different topics on circular economy that huddled over 1800 attendees and online viewers. In total, ReLuxury hosted 29 talks and welcomed 60 speakers from all spheres.

The show ended with the Closing Talks by Fabienne Lupo, whose inspirational speech encouraged attendees to rethink, resell, repair, and join the cultural movement towards a more conscientious and smarter consumption of luxury goods. Fabienne announced: “Following the success of this first edition, ReLuxury is already planning its 2023 initiatives. Details will follow soon.”

Watchdreamer x 4th Anniversary

Geneva, 24 November 2022

Watchdreamer becomes a key player in the watchmaking online distribution.

This year, watchdreamer.com celebrates its 4th anniversary and its transition from a niche digital start-up to a leader in online watch financing and distribution. A success that can be explained by the relevance of the concept, both for end customers and for partner brands.

In November 2018, Nicolas Hildenbrand, a young creative entrepreneur, founded the start-up watchdreamer.com, based in Pully. Its goal is simple: to offer the possibility to buy a luxury watch with zero-interest financing, staggered up to 48 monthly payments, at no cost. All 100% online, instantaneous and without unnecessary paperwork.

An immaculate customer service

The advantages for customers are clear. Credit at 0% interest, the response to immediate demand, the access to a vast selection of more than 1600 watches available are a few of the exceptional advantages customers have access to when choosing Watchdreamer. Not to mention the unique flexibility in Europe offered by Watchdreamer, it is the exemplary quality of the service that is acclaimed. The team attends to customers’ needs throughout the entire buying process, namely personalized advice at all times and a fluid, simple and efficient digital platform. 80% of transactions are completed on mobile in a few clicks and watches are generally delivered within 5 working days!

A new distribution channel

By respecting the public prices recommended by brands, granting their official guarantees and offering a real luxury service experience with unparalleled transparency and traceability, Watchdreamer is truly opening up a new distribution channel. Thus, the presence of brands on the platform makes it possible to effectively reach a new, larger, younger, digital-based target, quite distinct and completely complementary to the usual customers of brands and physical retailers.

A Swiss success story

The success confirms the relevance of the business model to the delight of watch connoisseurs and partner brands: more than 3,000 watches already sold in 2022, in Switzerland alone! In the space of 4 years, Watchdreamer has become one of the largest official Swiss retailers (online and offline combined) for many brands, including Hublot and Breitling. Watchdreamer is now the official distributor for more than 20 watch brands. The 2018 start-up has indeed become a key player in watchmaking distribution. And that’s just the beginning.

The future

Watchdreamer continues its development with its distinctive and relevant USP. A new website, more fluid and attractive, will be launched in early 2023. Video content, essential to reach the younger generation will flood the platform and augmented reality will be a main feature. Internationalization is also in the works. New markets will open in 2023, in France and the UK. Watchdreamer is also working on partnerships with jewelry brands to increase their variety. And finally, upon reflection the company is considering a physical presence to complement its online activities… it will obviously be disruptive, unconventional and will offer an experience as fresh as the website has been able to do since its inception.

Watches and Culture x The Watch Forum 2022

The Watch Forum 2022, Geneva, 13 September 2022

Watches and Culture announces the first Watch Forum in Geneva on Sustainability.

Lasting the entire day, the event focused on sustainability and its real-life implications for the watch industry. Other Watches and Culture initiatives will continue to develop the theme of sustainability throughout 2022.

“By hosting the Watch Forum, Watches and Culture is fulfilling its role to bring the industry together and debate questions of importance both now and for the future, such as sustainable development. Net Zero production, traceability across supply chains, impacts on biodiversity and the development of recycled materials and a circular economy are just some of the topics the watch industry needs to address… not forgetting the social issues of equality and inclusion. The answers to these questions will be decisive for the profession’s future,” says Pascal Ravessoud, Director of External Affairs at the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie.

Sustainability was the theme of the Watch Forum by Watches and Culture. Sustainability reflects the similarities between a responsible approach and crafting objects that last a lifetime. The purpose of mechanical watchmaking and art mechanics. Recognised by UNESCO as part of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

The Watch Forum is an invitation-only event. Reserved for eminent specialists, representatives of NGOs and international institutions, as well as leading figures in the industry. Its purpose is to promote positive emulation and engage all stakeholders in a more sustainable industry.

This year’s edition was also the opportunity to present the Meaningful Watch Movement; which accompanies and supports brands on their journey towards sustainability.
