Rallymaster IV Unveiled Down Under

As the new season of the professional tennis tour gets underway in Australia, Maurice de Mauriac and Racquet are proud to introduce the fourth edition of the Rallymaster. A tennis-themed wristwatch collaboration that is being launched in Melbourne on January 15th. After a first instalment in 2022, a follow-up in 2023 and a third chapter in 2024. This year’s iteration explores darker and electrifying night sessions of modern championship tennis.

MAURICE DE MAURIAC: THE RALLYMASTER IV

Meanwhile, each timepiece of the series evokes one of the major tournaments. Following the dusty Parisian terre battue. Blue American hardcourts and green British grass, the Rallymaster IV features an all black outlook. Combining a black PVD steel case and a grained black dial with a kaleidoscopic small seconds subdial in three neon hues. The Rallymaster IV‘s design frames classic vintage details within a modern tennis-world lens. Drawing inspiration from the uniquely graphic dials of chronographs from the ‘60s & ‘70s, the fourth edition however feels more ‘rebellious’. With its black outfit and the Australian courts are a perfect setting to showcase contemporary tennis outerwear.

THE TENNIS’S TRADITION

Australia has a longstanding tennis tradition and hosts one of the four Grand Slam tournaments. And it is on the eve of the first major of the year that the new Maurice de Mauriac x Racquet Rallymaster IV collaborative timepiece is being unveiled with a launch party at the Time+Tide Watch Discovery Studio in Melbourne.

THE DESIGNER: CARLTON DEWOODY

Naturally, the Rallymaster series is authored by Carlton DeWoody, a California-based designer and avid watch collector. “For the final edition, we really wanted to flex the versatility of the platform and show how different the watch could look and feel. The black and neon challenges traditional tennis archetype in much of the same way that Maurice de Mauriac and Racquet challenge the status quo.”, he says. Maurice de Mauriac and Racquet connected with DeWoody because the designer’s passion for tennis. And knowledge of vintage timepieces made him the ideal collaborator for the project. “I aimed to bridge past and present, reinterpreting classic design with a contemporary lens.”, DeWoody explains.

The Rallymaster IV is a limited edition of 100 pieces.

Minase’s Yusai Dials: The Art of Time and Colors

Minase unveils the Yusai Dials, three new handmade dials that symbolize the ever-changing colors of nature. Meticulously crafted by Japanese artist Towa Takaya and framed in Minase’s signature Sallaz-polished case, the Yusai Dials reveal intricate colors and reflections that transform with every movement.

MINASE | THE YUSAI DIALS

Minase’s vision is to create high-end watches that pay tribute to Japanese crafts and nature. Also,
when Minase’s President Suzuki Tsuyoshi met Ms. Towa Takaya and discovered her work for the first time, he immediately saw the potential for a great collaboration: “Towa Takaya’s dials are not just esthetically beautiful, they are a representation of nature’s ever-changing colors, crafted with that same nature. It is pure craftsmanship and I am proud to work with her on this new execution.”.

The Yusai Dials comprise three distinct collections: 5 Windows, 7 Windows, and Divido. Each expressing a unique interpretation of Minase’s vision of art and time.

The name “Yusai” combines two characters: “Yu”, symbolizing the eternal and gentle flow of time, and “Sai”, evoking the vibrant, ever-changing nature of color. Together, they define the spirit of the Yusai Dials: surfaces that seem to breathe with light, shifting tone and depth as the environment changes.

THE ARTIST | TOWA TAKAYA

Born in Tokyo in 1992, Towa Takaya is a Japanese artist whose work bridges nature and material. Additionally, she creates her own pigments from soil, plants, and other natural ingredients gathered during her travels. Her paintings are an ode to nature, exploring delicate color spectrums and subtle gradations. Ms. Takaya explains: “The pieces I have created for Minase were inspired by Japan’s unique craftsmanship.”
