Introducing Schwarz Etienne’s New 1902 GMT

Having successfully launched the 1902 Petite Seconde and 1902 Réserve de Marche models earlier this year, Schwarz Etienne now unveils the latest addition to its product portfolio. The 1902 GMT. This model, as its name attests, harnesses more than a century of watchmaking know-how. But is expressed in a contemporary form that’s ideally suited to modern-day life.

A watch ideal for the modern-day traveller. Offered in two dial variants. Silver or blue, the new 1902 GMT is a pure expression of fine watchmaking, uniting expertise and mechanical know-how for the delectation of purists.

THE 1902 GMT: AN INTERPRETATION OF DUAL TIME

The dial gracing the 1902 GMT features an intricate arrangement of textures, levels and contrasting hues that enchantingly play with light. Lancine-style hour and minute hands, with sandblasted and polished facets, indicate the ‘local time’. A GMT hand, with a prominent tip, collaborates with Arabic numerals, allowing the wearer to easily determine the prevailing hour at home. Day or night.

A small seconds dial, with an azurage finish, is located at 6 o’clock. While a chemin de fer, incorporating small hints of red, frames the display. Although the 1902 GMT shares a familial likeness with other members of the 1902 collection, Schwarz Etienne has endowed the two new references with their own character.

This model features the ASE 320.00 automatic movement, which Schwarz Etienne designs and hand-assembles entirely in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The movement includes a micro-rotor for efficient winding. The 1902 GMT comes in a 39 mm Grade 5 titanium case.

Minase’s Yusai Dials: The Art of Time and Colors

Minase unveils the Yusai Dials, three new handmade dials that symbolize the ever-changing colors of nature. Meticulously crafted by Japanese artist Towa Takaya and framed in Minase’s signature Sallaz-polished case, the Yusai Dials reveal intricate colors and reflections that transform with every movement.

MINASE | THE YUSAI DIALS

Minase’s vision is to create high-end watches that pay tribute to Japanese crafts and nature. Also,
when Minase’s President Suzuki Tsuyoshi met Ms. Towa Takaya and discovered her work for the first time, he immediately saw the potential for a great collaboration: “Towa Takaya’s dials are not just esthetically beautiful, they are a representation of nature’s ever-changing colors, crafted with that same nature. It is pure craftsmanship and I am proud to work with her on this new execution.”.

The Yusai Dials comprise three distinct collections: 5 Windows, 7 Windows, and Divido. Each expressing a unique interpretation of Minase’s vision of art and time.

The name “Yusai” combines two characters: “Yu”, symbolizing the eternal and gentle flow of time, and “Sai”, evoking the vibrant, ever-changing nature of color. Together, they define the spirit of the Yusai Dials: surfaces that seem to breathe with light, shifting tone and depth as the environment changes.

THE ARTIST | TOWA TAKAYA

Born in Tokyo in 1992, Towa Takaya is a Japanese artist whose work bridges nature and material. Additionally, she creates her own pigments from soil, plants, and other natural ingredients gathered during her travels. Her paintings are an ode to nature, exploring delicate color spectrums and subtle gradations. Ms. Takaya explains: “The pieces I have created for Minase were inspired by Japan’s unique craftsmanship.”
