A New Chapter for the Tazio Nuvolari
At Rallylegend 2026, Eberhard & Co. introduces a new interpretation of its Tazio Nuvolari chronograph, continuing a collection inspired by the legendary Italian racing driver. The presentation coincides with a special tribute to brand ambassador Miki Biasion, marking 40 years since his first World Championship victory.
Some names in motorsport belong to a particular era. Others continue to shape the way that era is remembered. Tazio Nuvolari is one of them.
For Eberhard & Co., the legendary Italian racing driver has been more than a source of inspiration. Since 1992, his name has defined a collection of chronographs that connect the Maison’s watchmaking with the history, personalities and unmistakable visual language of motorsport.

In 2026, that collection enters a new chapter with a 40 mm automatic chronograph, introducing a textured Clous de Paris dial, renewed details and references to the symbols that accompanied Nuvolari throughout his racing career. Its presentation at Rallylegend 2026, taking place in San Marino from October 8 to 11, adds another dimension to the story.
A chronograph built around a name
Tazio Nuvolari (1892–1953) was never a conventional racing champion. His reputation was built on exceptional driving ability, determination and a willingness to challenge what seemed possible. But there was also something distinctive about the way he presented himself, from his yellow racing jersey to the small gold turtle he carried as a lucky charm.
The turtle was a gift from Italian poet Gabriele D’Annunzio, accompanied by a dedication that captured the contradiction perfectly: “To the fastest man, the slowest animal.” Eberhard & Co. has incorporated these personal symbols into its Tazio Nuvolari watches for more than three decades. The new chronograph continues that tradition but gives it a different visual expression.

At 40 mm, the stainless-steel case introduces a compact format, while the black dial receives a Clous de Paris decoration, a three-dimensional pattern of small, interlocking pyramids that creates depth and movement across the surface. Traditionally associated with more classical watchmaking, the pattern takes on a different character here, framed by the chronograph’s sporting references. The result is a watch that looks to vintage motorsport without simply reproducing the past.
Two dials, two personalities
The new Tazio Nuvolari is offered in two dial configurations. The first combines a black dial with matching black chronograph counters, creating a more uniform appearance. Its most distinctive detail appears at 9 o’clock, where the stylized turtle emblem incorporates Nuvolari’s initials, TN, in yellow.

It is the first time this yellow monogram has appeared in this configuration, recalling the same initials Nuvolari used on his racing equipment and personal belongings. The yellow continues onto the central chronograph seconds hand, introducing a small but deliberate contrast against the black dial.
The second version takes a different approach. Here, the black dial is paired with white coquille d’œuf counters, finished with an azuré pattern. The turtle emblem appears in gold, with white TN initials, while the central chronograph seconds hand adopts a matching gold tone.

Both versions feature vintage-inspired luminous Arabic numerals and skeletonized baton hands. The choice between them changes the character of the watch considerably: one emphasizes the continuity of black, punctuated by yellow; the other brings the chronograph counters forward through contrast.
The details of a racing chronograph
Beyond the dial, Eberhard & Co. has retained several elements that connect the Tazio Nuvolari collection to vintage motorsport. The bezel features a perlage finish and a black-engraved speed scale in miles per hour, while an additional tachymeter scale in kilometers per hour runs around the dial’s outer perimeter.
Two large chronograph counters display elapsed times of 30 minutes and 12 hours, powered by an automatic mechanical chronograph movement. The polished rectangular pushers, positioned at 2 and 4 o’clock, control the chronograph’s start, stop and reset functions.

The stainless-steel case measures 13.10 mm in thickness, with a sapphire crystal treated to reduce reflections and water resistance to 50 meters. On reference 31175, the case back is secured by eight screws and combines a perlage finish with a polished central section featuring gold-colored engravings.
The collection also includes the Gold Car Collection, reference 31176, distinguished by a sapphire exhibition case back revealing the decorated movement. Its oscillating weight carries an 18-karat gold representation of Tazio Nuvolari driving the Alfa Romeo Type C. It is a detail normally hidden against the wrist, but one that connects the mechanics of the watch directly to the driver behind its name.

The chronograph can be paired with a black alligator leather strap, a gray suede-effect fabric strap or a steel Charme bracelet with the Maison’s 2CLICK® clasp, personalized with the stylized turtle emblem.
Forty years later, another motorsport story
The new Tazio Nuvolari arrives at Rallylegend during a particularly meaningful edition of the event. Eberhard & Co. returns as Sponsor and Official Timekeeper, joining a celebration of rallying history centered on the 40th anniversary of Miki Biasion’s first World Championship victory.
In 1986, Biasion claimed that victory at Rally Argentina behind the wheel of the Lancia Delta S4 of the Martini Racing team. Four decades later, the two-time World Rally Champion and Eberhard & Co. brand ambassador returns to the same historic car at Rallylegend.

He will participate in the Group B Tribute, alongside fellow rallying names including Stig Blomqvist and Markku Alén, as the event commemorates 40 years since the end of one of motorsport’s most extraordinary categories.
Another familiar name will also return to the spotlight. Piero Liatti, winner of the 1995 Rally Sanremo and 1997 Rally Monte Carlo, will drive a Subaru Impreza featuring a customized Eberhard & Co. livery in the Memorial Bettega, the celebrated head-to-head challenge originating at the Bologna Motor Show.

The Maison will also present its watches to the winning crews in the WRC, Group B, former Group A and Rally2 categories competing on “The Legend” special stage.
More than a reference to the past
There is a clear connection between the new Tazio Nuvolari chronograph and the setting chosen for its Rallylegend presentation. Both are built around names and machines that have remained relevant long after their original moments of competition.
But neither is simply about nostalgia. The watch introduces a new dial texture, updated proportions and fresh interpretations of familiar symbols. Rallylegend brings historic cars and drivers back into motion, allowing new audiences to experience the stories that made them significant.

For Eberhard & Co., this is also a question of continuity. The Tazio Nuvolari collection has carried the driver’s name since 1992. More than three decades later, the Maison continues to find new ways of interpreting his character through watchmaking.
The details change but the connection remains. And at Rallylegend 2026, where Miki Biasion returns to the car associated with his first World Championship victory, that idea feels particularly relevant.
Some stories are worth preserving, while others are worth keeping in motion.
