Meia Lua Watches is a Portuguese micro-brand just over two years old based out of Lisbon, Portugal. Gonçalo Lopes is a young finance professional who decided to change careers and follow his passion. He reached out to Sparkling PR so we could assist in the development of his Business and Marketing strategies.


The MEIA LUA brand was born in Lisbon, where the Tagus meets the Atlantic and the water meets the city. The purpose of the brand is to deliver exclusive automatic timepieces with upscale features, carefully crafted and yet reasonably priced. Meia Lua stands for “half-moon” in the Portuguese language; and the moon does play an important role for the brand’s inspiration and motive. Not only is the moon an essential aspect of the watchmaking world, it holds a sentimental place in the heart of the Portuguese. MEIA LUA Watches aims to place Portugal, a country of strong watch culture and tradition; in the international scene of the watch industry – and so far the brand has sold their distinct pieces to more than 30 countries all over the world.

Gonçalo has a great vision for the brand and is already working on several collections (diving watches, ladies’ and chronographs) to be launched in the next two years; which will consolidate his position. Inception is the entry collection; but it already shows many watchmaking details that are not typically seen in watches in this “affordable” price category. In 2018, his Inception won the “Preference of the Public” award of the Watchmaking Grand Prize organized by the renowned magazine Anuário Relógio & Canetas.


Since September 2020, Gonçalo and Sparkling PR have been working together on the brand’s business development strategy covering different areas:

  • Assessing the brand’s situation in general
  • Execute a brand profile
  • SWOT Analysis
  • Establishing Commercial and Marketing objectives
  • Creating short and long-term objectives
